Trimdon United Juniors FC V’s Stockton West End ‘B’
Result: Trimdon 3 SWE ‘B’ 0
Trimdon Scorers: Adam Ward, Matthew Grimley and Trevor Davies
Trimdon Man of the Match: Thomas Flint for a driving midfield performance
In a real bottom of the table six pointer both teams produced some excellent football in a very tight first half performance which saw both forward lines thwarted by some excellent defending before an error in the Stockton defence saw Trimdon awarded a penalty which Adam Ward coolly converted to give the home side the lead.
Half Time Trimdon 1 SWE ‘B’ 0
The second half saw Trimdon take control of the game with the midfield lead by Thomas Flint running the show and giving their forward line a number of chances to increase the lead only to be stopped by some resolute defending by Stockton.
Matthew Grimley increased the lead midway through the half when he chased a ball to the goal line and sent over a cross which eluded everyone and dropped into the net for a fortunate finish but a valuable goal never the less.
Trimdon’s dominance of the second half was finally confirmed when Trevor Davies scored his first of the season to secure a solid home win.
The points should end any fear of relegation for Trimdon and provide them a base on which to work to achieve a mid table position by the end of the season
