Trimdon United Juniors FC Under 18’s
Match Report for Sunday 18th January 2009
Trimdon United Juniors FC Vs Leven AFC
Result: Trimdon 0 Leven AFC 2
Trimdon Man of the Match: David Jackson – for a solid and skilful performance in mid field.
The game was played in very windy conditions with Trimdon kicking with the wind in the first half of a scrappy encounter.
Leven defended well into the wind and a below par Trimdon side failed to use the advantage of the wind and were limited to two good free kicks from Adam Ward and Matty Grimley both of which were well saved by the Leven Keeper
Matty Grimley hit the post with a cross which the wind drifted into the danger area but Trimdon were unable to break the deadlock.
At times the Trimdon defence played really well to stop the long ball threat of a pacey Leven attack.
Half Time Score: Trimdon United Juniors 0 Leven AFC 0
From a football point of view the second half was a nightmare with both teams more intent on kicking each other than attempting to play football; how the match official failed to use his card is a mystery to all who watched the match and to some of those who played in it; likewise as to how no one received a serious injury.
Leven did manage to score two goals; both from terrible individual errors by Trimdon players, one to gift an open goal to the Leven center forward and the other to give Leven a penalty which they duly converted.
Trimdon had a couple of opportunities when Lewis Gunn twice broke free in the box but was unable to convert.
Trimdon will have to pick themselves up from this level of performance if they are to avoid relegation this season.
Final Score: Trimdon United Juniors 0 Leven AFC 2
