This was a hard fought competitive Challenge Cup fixture in which both teams gave everything to try and progress to into the next round of the cup.
The game was played in cold conditions with both sets of lads giving strong performances but largely cancelling each other out with respect to scoring opportunities resulting in an exciting but goalless first half.

The second half saw Trimdon playing with only ten men after one of the lads had to leave due to work commitments, but the remaining ten stepped up to the mark with a solid performance against a gritty Middleton side.
After some end to end play Adam Croft scored a great overhead kick following some good link up play between Matty Grimley and Robert Hughes on Trimdon’s left wing.
After Trimdon took the lead both teams had chances to score before Middleton equalised with the Trimdon players furious with the referee as they believed the center forward to be offside when he received the ball in the build upto the goal.

As cup games must be played to a conclusion the game went into extra time with 15 minutes being played each way.
There were no goals in extra team despite the best efforts of both teams to avoid the lottery of penalties.
