Cage fighting in the Boro
Trimdon turn up expecting a tough game but confident they can get something from Kader who were a little lucky last time. Kader though are top of the league and intend to stay there ….they look sharp on the ball and fight hard (almost literally) to get it back when they lose it. Two footed tackles, elbows flying and rough play from a number of the Kader lads mark an ill tempered first half and we are screaming at the ref to calm it down but as he doesn’t intervene with conviction, it seems to go on and on. Kader break sharply a number of times and score a couple of decent goals to take the lead but its not all one way and Trimdon too have good efforts and close run shots, eventually being rewarded by a decent Sam Noble goal. More of the rough stuff from Kader peaks with a chest high lunging tackle on Shaun Swan which almost cuts him in half but he’s a powerful lad and gets back up to his credit and gets stuck right back in himself for the rest of the game. A protest from the Trimdon bench is met with a tirade of foul language from the culprit, which strangely enough was heard by everyone but the ref, and he goes unpunished for both tackle and abuse.
Second half and Trimdon start to meet fire with fire and all the lads are willing to step up to the challenge. A hard fought and pretty even half ensues with both teams battling it out and no quarter given. A great break on goal from Tom Lawson and he pushes the ball past the keeper only to be bundled to the ground by the keeper who made no effort at the ball just the man - at least the ref gave a penalty, which Sam buries, but the keeper should have gone on the walk of shame. Kader get a few more goals from good breaks and the score looks unflattering but it’s not a true reflection of a game that should have ended with them having 9 men on the pitch. It’s a real shame that a 14 year old’s football match is more memorable for the bad in the game rather than the good but this was an ugly match.
MOM from them Lee Jackson who defended superbly From report – Shaun Swan who was strong and sharp all game
