TRIMDON UNITED JUNIORS SEASON 2008/09
Trimdon United U14 v Kader 22/03/09 Goalkeeper Scott Waterson Defence – Thomas Barker , Lanky Clarke, Louie Cudworth, Danny Williams Midfield – Tom Lawson, Adam Foston, Luke Casson, Josh Anderson Forwards – Sam Noble (Captain) , Shaun Swan Reserve – Jack Cairns Top of the league Kader visit us today on a horrible gale blasting day – it’s not going to be about good football today it’s going to be about who can manage the wind. All the same we expect to see something special from Kader who seem to be beating everyone easily. Trimdon with the wind behind them kick off and quickly get the ball out to Josh who takes on and beats a couple then crosses but the wind drives the ball out of play. Little Danny defends well and blocks off 2 swift attacks but after 15 minutes or so Kader show their intent with a sharp drive through on goal and Scotty reacts quickly off his line and dives bravely at the striker’s feet – a quality save. Minutes later though from a similar move Kader go 1 up and this time Scotty gets injured and has to come off to be replaced by Jack Cairns. Not long after Kader put another one away and it goes to 2 – 0 but Danny is injured in the run up to that goal and Trimdon are taking a bit of physical battering from some of the Kader lads. In the absence of any more subs Danny carries on. A couple of breaks from Trimdon follow and a great corner from Sam on 20 min just slides by the post – there really isn’t much in it in terms of footballing ability at this point. A nice piece of skill from Luke Casson in the box on 22min to squeeze between 2 men but his shot is saved by the keeper. Another corner from Sam on 30 min fires towards the top corner but the keeper scrambles it away. 31 minutes in and Josh who is working hard on the left floats a nice ball into the box, Luke nods it on to Sam who blasts past the keeper to go 2 – 1. A long-range effort next from Tom Lawson just clears the bar and Trimdon keep pouring forward at every chance. Trimdon, though didn’t make full use of the wind assistance and the half ends at 2-1 . Right from the off in the second half Kader use that wind and shoot from distance in the first minute and Jack Cairns does well to parry the ball out but from the corner they score again and it’s 3-1. The wind has picked up to gale force now and Trimdon can’t clear their lines as the ball is only traveling 20 yards from the biggest of kicks, this helps Kader and they make full use of the advantage to score 3 more goals. Some great breaks on the left from Josh and Tom give hope of some reward with both lads driving at the Kader goal but no cigar. Trimdon gave a decent account of themselves against a very physical side and I would like to have seen a little more protection from the ref particularly for the couple of off the ball niggles that were going on but he kept the game flowing. The score line didn’t reflect the effort the lads put in and there isn’t a 5 goal diference between these 2 teams. Little Danny had a good game despite having to come off late in the game due to injury but MOM on a day when everyone worked hard goes to Josh for hard work on the left and a never say die attitude.
