Trimdon United Juniors FC Under 13’s
Match Report for Sunday 4th January 2008.

Trimdon United Juniors FC V’s Thirsk Falcons
TJFA League Cup

Result:                         Trimdon 7  Thirsk 0

Trimdon Scorers:      J Eves 3, J Noble 2, R Tinkler, J Johnson

Trimdon Man of the Match:     Jonathan Eves – an excellent hat trick and all round performance

The match was played in very cold conditions with both sets of players feeling the cold. The initial exchanges were well balanced with 10 man Thirsk giving a good account of themselves, forcing one good save from the Trimdon keeper James Johnson, before the extra man and bigger physical size of the Trimdon team took over and chances started to come. Robbie Tinkler broke the deadlock with a strong shot from the edge of the box which beat the Thirsk keeper low to his right. Trimdon quickly doubled their advantage with a strong volley from James Noble. Jonathan Eves then scored two good goals from flowing Trimdon moves which saw a string of passes resulting in two good strikes from within the Thirsk box.

Half Time           Trimdon 4  Thirsk 0

Trimdon made four changes at half time with subs Thomas Gill, Daniel Hall and James Bromley coming into the game and goal keeper James Johnson swapping places with center back Ryan Darby.

Thirsk started the second half brighter and came close to scoring on a couple of occasions bringing one very good save from stand in keeper Ryan Darby. However the extra man on a large pitch again took its toll and Trimdon ran in three more goals; the first coming from a good solo run into the box by Jonathan Eves who beat the advancing keeper to round off his first hat trick of the season.

James Johnson, in a rare run out of goal then scored with a stinging shot from the edge of the box before James Noble grabbed his second to complete a comfortable win for Trimdon.

Credit goes to both teams for a great game in cold conditions and especially to a ten man Thirsk team who never stopped battling – well done lads.

Final Score         Trimdon 7 Thirsk 0

Trimdon now face a trip to a strong Stokesley side in the quarter final of the competition.
