Trimdon United Juniors FC Under 13’s Match Report for Sunday 14th December 2008. Durham County Cup Seaham Town Community FC V’s Trimdon United Juniors FC
Result: Seaham 2 Trimdon 4
Trimdon Scorers: R Tinkler, J Austick, J Harrison and T Gill Trimdon Man of the Match: Kieran Thompson – thoroughly deserved for a strong display at centre back.
The match was finally played on a heavy pitch after several postponements in the past few weeks; thanks to Seaham for their efforts in getting the game on and allowing the fixture to be changed.
Seaham started the game very strongly and deservedly took the lead when a flowing move resulted in their centre forward outstripping the Trimdon defence and firing a strong shot into the Trimdon net.
As Trimdon’s rustiness following a month without a game showed in the early stages Seaham were on top and but for a couple of excellent saves from James Johnson and some strong last gasp defending could well have increased their lead.
However Trimdon started to play their passing game and come back into the game, Robbie Tinkler going close with a strong free kick before eventually getting the equaliser with a strong header following good link up play between the Trimdon midfield and forwards.
Another flowing move saw Trimdon take the lead through Jack Austick who finished with a delicate chip over the advancing Seaham keeper after being pt clear in the box by a James Noble through ball.
Half Time Seaham 1 Trimdon 2
The second half started much the same as the first with Seaham putting pressure on the Trimdon defence but this time without being able to get a break through due to some stout defending by James Bromley, Ryan Darby, Joe Peacock and man of the match Kieran Thompson. Just as it looked like Trimdon were going to be under the cosh for the rest of the game, James Harrison eased the nerves with a powerful finish from the edge of the box to give Trimdon some breathing space.
Seaham, to their credit kept battling, but were caught on the break when Thomas Gill ran strong into the box to finish off another Trimdon break away move and secure the win.
Seaham did score a late consolation move when they converted an excellent passing movement with a strike from inside the Trimdon box.
