Trimdon United under 12s 3 v 1 Hardwick Youth under 12s
Hardwick Youth were the visitors to this TJFA Division 5 match on a sunny day with a dry pitch where both teams were looking for 3 points as points are vital at this late stage of the season. Trimdon kicked off and immediately showed there intent forcing a corner off their first attack. Captain Joe Potts took the corner which was inch perfect for Trimdons top scorer Jamie Dalton to ghost into the center and volley a sweet strike high into the net for 1-0 and the dream start in the first minute. Both teams were making a game of it and it was the visitors who scored in the 8th minute to level the game at 1-1. Both teams had chances after this but Trimdon were on top and came close on several occasions with shots just going wide of target. One of the visitors attacks lead to the best goal of the game when Anthony Wicks stepped in and broke up the attack taking the ball wide left with two attackers in pursuit and about 20mtrs from his own line but still manage to clip a perfectly weighted pass up the line over the visitors defence for ever willing Jamie Dalton to pounce onto it and run all the way to goal and audaciously nutmeg the keeper for his second and a 2-1 Trimdon lead in the 24th minute and that is how the first half ended. Trimdon came out of the blocks fast for the second half and put the visitors under pressure from the start forcing several corners that were beautifully delivered from both sides by Joe Potts and Anthony Wicks that went begging needing only a touch to increase Trimdons lead. However after 11 minutes the breakthrough came not surprisingly from an Anthony Wicks corner that somehow went along the goal line with no one able to get the touch it was reversed to the center for Ashley Dunning to pick a spot through a crowded goalmouth to score for a 3-1 lead. The game was all one way after this and the only surprise was that there were no more goals for Trimdon from the excellent chances that were being created.
Man of the match- Jamie Dalton- Terrorised the visitors defence and scored 2 goals that were not the easiest off chances and it took no small amount of skill to put them away. This was not an easy decision as everyone played well and Joe Potts and Anthony Wicks were very close to taking it both having an excellent game in the mid field engine room of the team. A special mention and the coaches thanks must go to our center half Matty Mitchell who with the late injury withdrawal of both of the first team keepers volunteered to play in goal and had a fine game and was an inspiration to his team mates of dedication to the cause. Defender of the match- Joe Lawson- another really solid game breaking up attacks and defending correctly to protect an inexperienced stand in keeper.
