Trimdon United Juniors FC Under 12’s
Match Report from Sunday 25th January 2009
Teeside Juniors Football Alliance Challenge cup Round 2.
Beechwood FC (under 12s) 10 v Trimdon Juniors Under 12s 1
Trimdon were the visitors to the third placed team in division 3 of the alliance, which is two divisions higher than Trimdon’s usual opposition, and knew they would be in for a hard game. The game started off evenly with both sides probing for the opening goal. It soon became apparent that the home team were strong in midfield and attack and when the first goal was awarded to Beechwood even though it was clearly offside, the writing was on the wall and the pattern of the game had been established. Trimdon tried valiantly to keep the home side at bay but just never seemed to get the breaks from anywhere and had efforts saved and going wide while Beechwood were capitalising on their gifts and chances and went to half time 6 goals up.
It was more of the same second half only brightened up by a goal from Trimdon with Anthony Wicks running from his own half (avoiding any risk of the referee giving offside) onto a great through ball from Jamie Daton to outsprint the defence and without breaking stride chip the ball over the advancing keeper from 18 meters for the best goal of the day. The weirdest of Beechwoods 2nd half goals was with 3 attackers in offside positions, standing less than 1mtr in front of the Trimdon keeper a shot went straight into the goal in between but without any of the three being able to touch it although they tried, was allowed as in the referees opinion they were not interfering? Probably a deserved win for the home side but the margin of victory should have been so much more under the circumstances and Trimdon would have no fear in welcoming them to Trimdon for a rematch at anytime in the future. FINAL SCORE BEECHWOOD 10 TRIMDON 1
A disappointing score line on the face of it however, many positives were taken by the coaches the main one being that man for man they were a match for the 3rd Division outfit and hopefully the lads will learn from this that they need to be organised and disciplined to compete with teams in higher divisions. However on a level playing field with hard work and application there is no reason why this is not possible even probable with this under 12s team. Well done lads next week will be another day at home to Richmond and an opportunity to move up the league table.
MAN OF THE MATCH --Anthony Wicks – A superb all round performance topped with the best goal of the day. MATCH BEST DEFENDER - Anthony Wicks – Gave his all, always helping out his defence and keeping everyone motivated to the end.
