Trimdon United Juniors FC Under 12’s Match Report for Sunday 11th January 2009. Teeside Juniors Football Alliance Division 5 Eaglescliffe Elementis Vs Trimdon United Juniors FC
Result: Eaglescliffe Elementis 3 Trimdon 4
Trimdon Scorers: Jamie Dalton (2), Joe Potts, Charlie McMillan.
Trimdon were the visitors for this league fixture on a cold day with a heavy pitch and a stiff wind blowing down the pitch towards the dressing rooms. The conditions always suggested this was to be a game of two halfs. Eaglescliffe kicked off with the advantage of the wind behind them and the first 20 minutes was an even contest with both teams playing open football and predictably Trimdon's defense and midfield were having to be at their best as clearances were almost impossible into the wind. The deadlock was broken in the 22 minute when Eaglescliffe's Jack Reay broke down the middle after a wind assisted through ball to slot past the Trimdon keeper for 1 - 0. The home side went 2 - 0 up in the 26th minute following a long kick out from their keeper which was side footed around the Trimdon keeper to hit the post stopping on the line only to be forced over the line by Tom Young after a scramble with a Trimdon defender. However Trimdon were not to be denied for all their first half efforts and in the 29th minute Jamie Dalton burst through the home defense and shot low and hard beating the home keeper for 2 - 1. HALF TIME Eaglescliffe 2 Trimdon 1
Trimdon kicked off the second half with the wind behind them and immediately took the game to the home side having shots saved and some unlucky breaks with the posts saving the home side on at least 3 occasions but it was inevitable that all the good Trimdon work would be rewarded. The equalizer came in the 16th minute when following some good close in keeper saves Charlie McMillan kept his head and scored from close range. Trimdon took the lead for the first time 4 minutes later when a great through ball from Joe Potts split the home defense and Jamie Dalton ran onto it and gave the keeper no chance. Elementis to their credit never stopped and 2 minutes later were back on terms following some scrappy defense from Trimdon the ball was crossed from the wing and forced home by Tom Young for his second goal of the game to make it 3 - 3. Trimdon's winning goal was a worthy match winner with Joe Potts picking up the ball in midfield and creating space outside the box with some superb dribbling skills and crashing the ball home from 20 meters in the 22nd minute. It was end to end after this with both sides going for more goals and the Elementis team kept going to the bitter end but may have lost this game by not taking more of their first half chances. Well done both teams for an entertaining game in very poor conditions.
