Trimdon United Juniors FC Under 12’s
Match Report for Sunday 4th January 2009.
Teeside Juniors Football Alliance Division 5
Trimdon United Juniors FC Vs Spraire lads FC

Result:           Trimdon 1          Spraire lads 8

Trimdon Scorer:   Joe Lawson
Trimdon Man of the Match:    Michael Edwards
– who had a great game only let down by those in front of him and without him the score would have been well into double figures.

Trimdon welcomed the only team with a 100% record in the division on a cold morning on a  pitch which was good where there was grass but very hard and uneven where there was  bare earth patches.  This meant that defenses were going to struggle once the ball was allowed to bounce.

The game started well for Trimdon who after some good play took the lead through a goalmouth scramble with Joe Lawson forcing the ball home in the 3rd minute.  The lead only lasted a further 3 minutes however when the visitors drew level with a simple goal straight through the center of the Trimdon defense.  Midfield and defenses were on top with Michael  Edwards making a string of fine saves to keep  Trimdon in the game.  They were undone however when approaching half time the visitors were again allow through the center to score a second goal.

Half Time    Trimdon 1     Spraire lads 2

The second half kicked of with the visitors keen to increase their advantage and with the benefit of a close offside decision going their way scored a third after 9 minutes of the half with yet another strike from down the center of the Trimdon defense one on one with the keeper.  With this heads went down and the visitors were rampant and only Michael Edwards pulling off some first class saves kept the visitors from scoring with almost ever attack.  As heads fell further and tiredness set in, with no games for the previous 7 weeks it was only a matter of time before the visitors and 5 goal (my man of the match) Cameron Callaghan put the game beyond Trimdon's reach for a much deserved away win.

The referee had a good game and could be excused for getting some tight decisions wrong which did not help Trimdon but did not affect the final result as the visitors coped with the conditions and variable bounce much better than the home team.
