TRIMDON UNITED JUNIORS SEASON 2008/09

Trimdon v Seaham Magic - Cup game

After destroying the much fancied All Stars last week it seemed an easy task today to  go and take the sparkle out of some team with a name dreamed up by Paul Daniels. They were only 1st division in the Russell Foster league and we had 3 players in our team who previously played in the Russell Foster premier league so it sounded easy.
Trimdon didn’t turn up to the match though and never looked like the team of hard working , tough tackling tryers from last week - instead the game looked uncoordinated and no-one was on their game. Magic played well but they weren’t anything special and it seems inexplicable that we can’t put them away.  In the first half there were some good touches from Josh through to Jack Fannan then onto Sam but no decent efforts on goal and their keeper was not troubled. Magic on the other hand  were finding the target and put 2 past Jack Cairns in the first half but both were cracking efforts and he didn’t have much of a chance with either. Second half we didn’t fair much better and they put a few more past us but we couldn’t reply. Sam had two 30 yard free kicks saved which he normally despatches but the keeper was decent and did them proud. We couldn’t pull a rabbit out of this hat and magic were first to every ball. Decent performances from Danny and Tom Lawson looked good when he went in goal but this weeks Reporters man of the match goes to Lanky who’s uncompromising tackling let the opposition know he was there and he had a great effort smash onto the cross bar in the second half.
We need to work on being first to the ball - too many people waiting for the ball to come to them today and the opposition didn’t wait they took it off our feet almost every time. Lets hope the league fares better next week…………..
