TRIMDON UNITED JUNIORS SEASON 2008/09
12th October 2008

Trimdon United U14 V 21st All Stars

After the recent ill tempered and not so friendly ‘friendly’ against All Stars a few short weeks ago they turn up for the real deal in our league fixture and it is quickly apparent that they have come in the same frame of mind with aggressive tackling from the outset from these lads. They are big side and want to show it, Trimdon however aren’t easily bullied and can dish it out as well so a hard fought match gets underway with Trimdon kicking off and from an early free kick Sam Noble floats a chancer at their goal but the big keeper collects very well. A good clearance from Lanky at the other end is knocked back at the Trimdon defense and All stars have their first crack at goal which slides by. Trimdon are coping well with the very physical side of All stars and they don’t like it one bit when they get some of their own medicine - After one seriously dodgy challenge the Trimdon coach does complain and receives verbal abuse from both their  players and the parents for his trouble. 8 minutes in Lanky puts a free kick on the end of Jack Fannan’s boot and he has a good shot at goal saved by the keeper. The midfield are working hard with Shaun, Tom Lawson and Ryan working well together to get the ball to Josh on the wing who knocks swiftly onto Sam then on to Jack and another effort on goal just misses - all Trimdon  - no reward yet. An uncharacteristic  cock up by All stars keeper, who looks decent, allows Josh a good effort at goal but the keeper recovers well to save on 12 minutes. Trimdon’s defense of Lanky, Daz , Danny and Lee are keeping the sharp looking All stars forwards at bay with great defensive work - Lanky standing out for his no nonsense tackling. 22 minutes in and Sam races at the keeper with a powerful shot smothered by the swift and brave stars  keeper - but things are looking bad for the starry eyed lads. Tom   Lawson getting all over the pitch again this week, bossing the game. A great ball from Lee to Josh is knocked forward for yet another Jack effort which skirts the post - so unlucky. A minute later and from a Shaun throw in the ball reaches Jack Fannan again who this time turns neatly and buries into the stars net - a great goal and the opposition really are seeing stars but not on their shirts. 1 - 0 .  Two minutes later Sam has a hefty free kick driven hard at their keeper but he collects - they owe this lad for keeping them in the game.  A good break from a stars lad through on goal but Jack Cairns races out with a great tackle to deny him.
A reshuffle at half time sees the tough tackler Daz move into midfield where he races through after 2 minutes but is denied by numbers and blocked off from shooting. Daz again works hard to get the ball out to Josh - he crosses and guess who’s there to knock in another from 20 yards - big Jack Fannan again - looking unstoppable.  2 - 0 .  Seven minutes in and Jack picks up the ball from the half way line, beats 2 and drives the ball in for his hat trick with another excellent goal. 3 - 0. A lone shot from stars on 10 minutes is easily collected by Jack Cairns who hasn’t had a lot to do but has done it well today. The Trimdon coach, Steve,  takes off his hat trick man and people think he’s off his trolley but this turns out to be inspirational as Luke Walton comes on and blasts his way through the stars team to score in his first minute and its 4 - 0.  The stars are not shining very brightly and are blaming each other - a sure sign of a demoralized side - but to be fair they are doing their best and can’t match Trimdon for skill or pace, strength and determination.  Everyone wants to get in the act and Lanky Clarke is no exception - on 14 minutes he drives forward from defense, beats 4 then shoots - a whisker over the bar. Stars haven’t given up and have a series of attacks but the defense are strong with Luke Casson clearing a couple of cutting attacks to safety.  Fabulous work from Luke Walton on 22 minutes, despite tackle after tackle and being scythed down in the box he just kept going to get his shot away which was knocked onto Sam and Sam buried it - a good goal  from him but the work was all Walton - (goodnight johnboy). 5-0. A great run and effort from the big centre half Adam was saved on 30 minutes and he’s starting to show his strength and ability.
The game ends on a thoroughly well deserved 5 - 0 win to Trimdon. These stars aren’t half bad but they were given a lesson today - in every area - Defense / Midfield / Up front /  attitude / determination / finishing. The whole team performed and it looks good for the future when  Trimdon can play like this.
Their coach’s man of the match was Tom Lawson  and he did stand out by being all over the pitch.
Reporters Man of the match goes again to Jack Fannan - loads of efforts and 3 great goals again.
