TRIMDON UNITED JUNIORS SEASON 2008/09 28th September 2008
Stokesley versus Trimdon United under 14’s
We arrive to find a 3/4 size pitch and it doesn’t bode well - Trimdon don’t usually play well on small pitches but here we go - Trimdon kick off in the first half and immediately on the attack with Tom Lawson knocking a good ball through to Sam Noble who drives across the goal but the keeper knocks it out to safety - early indications of a lively Trimdon side. Next nice work from Ryan wrong foots the Stokesley marker and he puts it out to Josh on the left - he drives forward and crosses well but nothing to reward this skillful effort. Good midfield work by Tom Lawson who makes use of the sharp looking Josh time and time again on the left and the chances are coming thick and fast. 10 minutes gone and Stokesley have their first effort - a 30 yard shot - collected easily by Jack Cairns in goal. A minute later and Josh turns his man, forces forward crossing the ball beautifully for Sam to knock in a goal with his right tit. 1 - 0 and an unconventional but welcome goal. The defense are not really being troubled up to now but when called upon they are keeping a tight reign with Danny and Lanky cleaning up very well. 19 minutes Daz knocks a lovely ball to Jack Fannan - he cleverly rounds his man but unluckily runs out of pitch before getting a shot away. A minute later and Josh provides another good cross to Sam who this time buries with his feet. 2 - 0 . Tom Lawson is getting all over the pitch - one minute clearing the box with a strong header then feeding on the left wing to Josh who crosses well for a good header into goal by Shaun and its 3 - 0 to Trimdon. We are looking like getting a hat full today with more shots from Sam and hard work from Jack Fannan Trimdon are looking dangerous. Stokesley haven’t given up though and on 27 minutes their big number 14 has a great effort rebound off the bar and they have another woodwork moment a minute later - good spirit from these lads. The attacking is relentless from Trimdon though with more efforts on this half from Sam (a 30 yarder), Josh who provided all the goals keeps on providing and Jack is making ranging runs through on goal. In the last minute of the half Tom carries the ball the length of the pitch and crosses to Ryan but he can’t get a good shot away and the half ends 3 - 0. From the restart Jack Fannan picks up the ball in his own 18 yard box and runs the length of the pitch to score the goal of the game from around 25 yards - superb. A few minutes later and Ryan does more good work on the ball holding it up turning his man then feeding Jack Fannan who scores yet another good goal and it’s 5 - 0. Another effort from Jack 10 minutes into the half is just pawed away by the keeper to prevent his hat trick. Again only one minute later Tom Lawson has a great run the length of the pitch beating 3 players then crossing and this time Jack does pick up his hat trick. 6 - 0 and welcome to the 3rd division Trimdon United. All Trimdon this half against a battling Stokesley and after 28 minute Tom, who has gone in goal kicks long up to Sam who also claims another to get his hat trick. Stokesley look to have gained a respite with a late goal which was adjudged off side - unlucky. A minute later though from a dubious free kick there is a goal mouth scramble in which Tom makes 2 quick saves but they get a shot past him and they do get a consolation goal. Trimdon still have the last word though with great work from Jack providing a low cross which Daz Humphries gets on the end of with a great diving header and the final score is 8 - 1 to Trimdon. Man of the match as selected by their coach was Sam Noble.
In a new development there will be also be a MOM selected by the match reporter with a trophy going to the most MOM’s from the match reports as well as from the other coach. Today was a great team effort and 4 people stood out as exceptional: Josh provided 3 goals and looked sharp. Sam scored 3 and could have had 6 Tom Lawson sets a standard few can match and was all over the pitch But this week report MOM goes to Jack Fannan who’s 3 goals were all superbly taken and he made another for Daz. |
