TRIMDON UNITED NEWSLETTER TWO

Our second match of the season involved a Cup Tie with Leven Athletic.
On a grey day with a strong wind at Leven’s back we found ourselves 2-0 down before half time was out. However this came as no surprise with the majority of play being in the Trimdon box and the defence and keeper Bob Shaw having to work very hard.
The beginning of the second half was starting to go pretty much the same way with Trimdon having the odd threat at goal but never worrying the Leven keeper. From a lucky break Leven put together a run and scored again making the score 3-0. This was enough to spark Trimdon into action and the ever busy Ryan managed to score from a close range shot picking up not only a goal but our spirits too. Well done Ryan!
With us on the attack yet again our substitute Callum Findlay missed a great chance to pull another back, however his moment was soon to arrive and he tucked the ball away nicely to take us to 3-2. Well done Callum!
With Trimdon now on a roll and time running out we pushed on in search of an equaliser and it finally came in the form of a beautiful corner kick from Sam heading straight into the back of the net and a mobbing for Sam from his team mates! Well done Sam.!
In the dying seconds of the game we were cruelly punished when Leven broke away and scored making the final score 4-3. This was a bitter pill to swallow for Trimdon especially after making such a good recovery and unfortunately for us we were knocked out of the cup.
Sam earned himself man of the match for the second time running, so well done Sam. Danny put in a strong performance in defence and a special mention to Bob Shaw who put in a quality performance as stand in keeper which is helping the team out till Scott returns. Finally well done to all the lads for an exciting game of football and an unfortunate lesson in how cruel football can be,
