TRIMDON UNITED JUNIORS SEASON 2008/09 14th September 2008
Trimdon United V New Marske 14th September 2008
A new season and a strengthened Trimdon side is looking forward to trying their skills against 3rd division opposition. There doesn’t look to be any poor teams in this division so we need to get stuck in. Trimdon kick off in the first half and immediately drive forward with good breaks through Tom Lawson to Daz and then Sam all looking sharp. Luke Walton and Ryan Willis showing good determined play but no break through for the Trimdon boys. Danny William’s is having a great game on the left , letting nothing past him and tracking up the field at every opportunity. A very even first half in terms of possession but when Trimdon do get a powerful shot from big Sam it is parried onto the bar by their keeper. Another long range and strong effort from Tom Lawson is also parried onto the bar - so we are having some decent chances but unfortunately no luck. At the other end though the Marske lads are fairing better with a good goal from a corner joined by 3 more goals for them in this half - all from long range high shots and it’s just a little luck on their part that is the difference between the teams. Trimdon never give up though and even going in at 4 - 0 down at half time there is still a feeling we can get something from the game as the opposition isn’t as good as the score line suggests. Second half is a different game and Trimdon pile on the pressure with Tom Lawson having a good effort just sail by 3 minutes in. Two minutes later and great strength and perseverance from Captain Sam Noble as he battles hard and crosses the ball in only for their defender to knock it into his own net. 4 -1 now. After 10 minutes the ball has hardly left the Marske half when a great ball is knocked through by Lanky Clarke to Sam who is scythed down by the keeper but nothing given. These Marske lads do have a physical side to their game but we have seen worse. Great link up between Sam and Shaun on 15 minutes, who do a clever 1 , 2 then Sam chips the keeper for the score to go 4 - 2 and well a deserved goal half’s the lead. Luke Walton does some good work on the right, cuts in and shoots hard at goal but the keeper can only deflect it into Sam’s path for his second of the game. It’s 4 - 3 now and Trimdon dominating the play. Against the run of play a break down the left side from a lone Marske lad and he scores a well taken goal. This proves to be the final score and although we lost the match we can take good heart from our battling spirit in the second half - Trimdon definitely the better team. Good performances from Danny, Tom L, Daz and Sam but Man of the match went Luke Walton this week
